Public Kinetic Sculptures

This page is about how to find public kinetic sculptures.

There are different types of public sculptures, in Museums, in parks and fronts on buildings etc.

Most larger public kinetic sculptures are found in Museums or inside public lobbies.  The primary reason is that moving parts are affected by the weather.

Many outdoor sculptures tend to be static because of the need to keep moving parts moving.
Stabiles are a type of fixed sculptures that appear mobile because they appear to change as you move around them.  The term was coined by Alexander Calder in the 1930's.
